Performance pay: Momentum grows for new salary plan

The timing is right for Oklahoma to launch a performance pay plan for teachers. The idea passed its first hurdle at the state Capitol but has a long legislative path to travel before becoming reality.

A bill by Rep. Earl Sears , R- Bartlesville , would create a pilot program in six districts. Each participating district would develop a plan in concert with educators, parents and community leaders.
