Person drowns while riding a horse in Grady County, witness says

The Grady County Sheriff’s Department recovered a body from a pond in the Bridge Creek area Tuesday. A witness told investigators they saw a person ride a horse into the pond. Both the horse and the person went under water, and only the horse came back up, the witness said.

— The Grady County sheriff’s office is investigating a drowning in the Bridge Creek area Tuesday.

A witness told police about seeing a person riding a horse into the pond about 4:30 p.m. Both the horse and the person went under water, and only the horse came back up.

A dive team searched the pond and recovered a body about 6:30 p.m., officials said.

The sheriff’s office has not released the victim’s name.
