BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A worker at a southeastern Montana mine was killed in an accident involving a truck used to haul coal.
The Sheridan Press in Wyoming reports (http://bit.ly/1pLOZ2n ) the Big Horn County Sheriff's Office identified the victim Tuesday as 58-year-old Stewart Orcutt, of Sheridan.
Wyoming-based Cloud Peak Energy says no one else was injured in the accident at its Spring Creek Mine near Decker. Mine Safety and Health Administration spokeswoman Amy Louviere said Tuesday the 230-ton truck crashed through a berm at about 7:30 p.m. Monday, killing the driver.
Federal mine safety officials were on the scene. No other details were immediately available.
Spring Creek employs about 280 people and produced more than 17 million tons of coal in 2013. The last reported fatality at the mine was in 2006.
