BETHANY — A person of interest in the Carina Saunders slaying reportedly sold his set of culinary knives to a local pawnshop the day he was reported missing.
An anonymous pawnshop employee said Cody Perez, 21, sold the knives for $50 to the pawnshop about 1:30 p.m. Oct. 10, KWTV-News 9 reports.
Perez was reported missing by his mother on Oct. 10. He was named as a person of interest this week in the death of 19-year-old Saunders.
A Bethany police dispatcher said Perez had not been located as of Thursday evening.
Saunders' remains were found Oct. 13 in a duffel bag behind the Homeland at NW 23 and Rockwell in Bethany. She had been beheaded.

“She's scared that he's gone. She's afraid that something bad happened,” Glimp said. “I don't think it's possible he's done anything.”
Perez's mother, Rachel Laraway, said Thursday her son and his girlfriend share a Facebook page. She said the girlfriend has been signing into the account and publishing posts.
Glimp said the girlfriend wrote, “This is Cody's GF. I don't know if you all have heard but Cody is missing … I love him very much and just hope he's safe.”
Perez had been pictured on his Facebook page wearing a bandanna over his face and holding a hatchet. Those photos no longer appeared Thursday on the limited-access portion of his Facebook page.Cody Perez's Facebook Profile
