“I've lived out here 23 years and I've been in this area all my life — I've never seen anything like that,” Parker said.

At first he thought the animal might be a dog or a large raccoon, but when he saw her jump, he knew it was a kangaroo.

“She wasn't very big but she was hopping pretty good,” he said. “I thought she looked scared, like she was in flight mode.”

The Menhusens are asking people with outdoor hunting cameras to check them for signs of the runaway ‘roo. The family is offering a $1,000 reward for the pet.

The Facebook page “Bring Lucy Sparkles Home” has more than 1,800 followers. The page is regularly updated with information on possible sightings and other posts.

Menhusen said if anyone spots the kangaroo and has her in their sight, they can call her at 990-4867. If she runs away, sightings can be posted on the Facebook page.
