Pet Tales: Goofy tale

Although our little telephone operator has long left us for his trip to kitty heaven, we get teary-eyed when the antique telephone rings.

Whenever the phone rang its old-fashioned clang-clang-clang, Goofy would run to the kitchen and jump to the little shelf below the mouthpiece before anyone could get there. He would sit there and growl if anyone tried to lift the receiver. It became Goofy’s job to be duty operator, and we answered our other phones in the house. When the ringing ceased, he would let out a little growl and jump to the floor.

It seemed to us that, during his short life, Goofy spent more time on the phone than any teenager. Occasionally, someone accidentally unplugs the old phone but then immediately plugs it back...
