Peterson shrugs off dislocation, gets 9th straight 100-yard game

Peterson said the play was made simple by what was in front of him.

"I felt better,'' he said. "The coaches make the calls and they did. I just go out there and run. And the offensive line did a great job opening the holes for me.''

There weren't many holes for most of the day.

The Aggies' defense limited Peterson to his lowest per carry average of the season -- 3.5 yards.

Texas A&M keyed on Peterson and tried to influence his running to the heart of the defense. When Peterson got outside, the Aggies made sure he stayed there and wasn't able to turn and run.

"They did a nice job of stringing him out to try and keep him on the edge,'' Long said. "I think at times he may have strung it out himself too long instead of just sticking it up in there. It was a tough 100 yards.''

Getting more than 100 yards helped keep Peterson's Heisman hopes alive. For the season, the freshman has 1,373 yards.

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said Peterson should be "well'' for next week's game against Nebraska. The left shoulder was the same one Peterson dislcoated in a preseason scrimmage. Following that injury Peterson missed nearly two weeks of practice.
