Football fans planning to make the 1,000 mile journey to Glendale, Ariz. for Wednesday's Fiesta Bowl should be prepared to share the road.

"There will be not only gameday traffic, but holiday traffic as well,” AAA Oklahoma Spokesman Chuck Mai said. "This is the time when advanced planning really comes in handy.”

Planes are filling up fast, leading a lot of people to decide to make the more than 14 hour drive to Glendale, Mai said.

"It's not a bad drive,” he said.

For Sooner fans who want to get to the game, but don't feel like driving, they still may be able to get a flight — if they act quickly.

Southwest Airlines Spokeswoman Ashley Rogers said all of today's flights to Phoenix are sold out.

"We are seeing a lot of people going to the game, and they are flying Southwest,” Rogers said.

She said and there are about eight more seats left on a flight that arrives in Arizona just 10 minutes before kickoff Wednesday.

"People still have the chance to get a seat, but not for much longer,” she said.

Although many Sooner fans have already made the trip to Arizona, Mai said he expects for there to be plenty of travelers who will make plans at the last minute.

"There will be some people who make spur of the moment decisions as the spirit moves them,” Mai said.
