NEW HEAT RECORD

Oklahoma City  set a new heat record when temperatures  topped the the century mark Monday afternoon, Aug. 22, making it the 51st day in 2011 when the temperature exceeded 100 degrees.  Letter carrier Anthony Belton sorts mail near his truck  before delivering the mail to homes in the 600 block on NW 92 on Monday. A mailman for five years, he said he tolerates working in the heat by wearing a wide-brimmed hat, shorts and drinking lots of water.
