HISTORICAL BOOK FOUND
Sheila Rose found this wet and dirty book in her back Tuesday evening May 24, 2011, while she was cleaning light storm debris after violent thunderstorms passed over her Midwest City neighborhood, Among the tree branches and insulation that has landed on her lawn, Rose noticed an odd-shaped item beneath some trees. She picked it up and discovered it was a book about the early history of Chickasha. The covers and binding were missing as were the first 23 pages. Rose said the book has at least 135 pages and is filled with historical photos, facts and stories about the Grady County town. Rose thinks the book may have been in a home or in the attic of residences damaged by an afternoon tornado. Photo by Jim Beckel, The Oklahoman
