Mexico Violence in Art
In this photo taken June 17, 2011, painter Ricardo Delgado Herbert, 36, pauses during an interview with The Associated Press at his atelier in Mexico City. Herbert, 36, began painting a series of portraits of monster-like hit men, with crooked teeth and eyes popping out, who are holding handguns or automatic rifles. He titled it "Glorious Pistols from the A to the Zetas," a reference to a drug gang, after seeing the commotion that followed a 2004 shootout between soldiers and gunmen in the border city of Matamoros.
