SIGNAL LIGHTS

Motorists in the area of Memorial Road and Lake Hefner Parkway are noticing newly installed louvers in front of the lenses of green signal lights. The city recently made the upgrades to these traffic signals. The purpose of the louvers is to make the light more directional so it can be seen only by drivers in the lane directly in line with the light. It's designed to prevent motorists from looking several hundred yards in the distance and being confused when there are several signal lights grouped together. Photo taken Monday, July 11, 2011.
