LINCOLN, Neb. -- Texas billionaire T. Boone Pickens was in Lincoln to speak about energy, but he talked football, too. Pickens has given hundreds of millions of dollars to Oklahoma State, his alma mater, in recent years.
He told more than 1,000 on Wednesday that since Nebraska doesn't play Oklahoma State in the regular season this year, the only way they could meet would be if both reach the Big 12 championship game. Pickens promises to pull for the Huskers until then, if the crowd would agree to pull for the Cowboys. Pickens asked for a show of hands to see how many people would take him up on the offer. Many people raised their hands, and Pickens said he'd let his alma mater know he'd picked up a thousand new supporters. Copyright 2008 The Associated Press.
