Robert Hurd is a custodian at the intermediate school. He has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and has been undergoing chemotherapy as he struggles to continue his duties with the district.

“It has spread into his bones,” Antwine said.

Justin Puckett was a graduate of Piedmont High School who lost his battle with brain cancer in December. Friends of the Pucketts previously set up a fund for Justin's family to help with medical expenses. The committee asked that $10,000 of the DUCK Week proceeds be given to Justin's family.

The Robertsons will kick off DUCK Week with a speech at 7 p.m. March 10 at Yukon High School about the good people do for each other, faith and family, Antwine said. The event will be held in the Yukon gymnasium because more space was needed, Antwine said. Tickets sales are not limited to Piedmont school district patrons.

The final sale period for tickets will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Piedmont High School. Tickets are $25.
