Pilot identified in fatal plane crash near Stillwater

The name of a pilot who died in an airplane crash in Payne County Thursday night has been released, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said today.

George Calvin Waller Jr., 58, of Stillwater was dead at the scene of the crash eight miles south of Stillwater about 8:45 p.m. Thursday, the patrol said.

Due to extensive damage to the airplane the make and model were not immediately known, the patrol said.

Waller's body has been taken to the medical examiner's office in Oklahoma City where an autopsy will be performed, the patrol said.
