Book discussion series set

The Norman Public Library’s annual Great Decisions Discussion Series will begin at 6:30 p.m. March 27 in Rooms A and B at the library, 225 N Webster Ave. The debut discussion on “Islamic Awakening” will be led by Norman Stillman, professor of Judaic history at the University of Oklahoma. Other topics and presenters are “Israel and the United States,” Gershon Lewental, 6:30 p.m. April 3; “Energy Independence,” Bo Kong, 6:30 p.m. April 10; and “Defense Technology,” Suzette Grillot, 6:30 p.m. April 24. Participants can register to attend any or all the discussions. To register, call 701-2620 or stop by the library.

Moore hosts museum visitors

Moore Public Library will host National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum representatives for a special presentation on “A Museum With True Grit” at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Room A of the library, 225 S Howard Ave. Jan Taylor will discuss the museum’s treasures and how it has been transformed into one of the region’s top tourist attractions.

Quilters guild to present demonstration

The Norman Area Quilters Guild returns to the Norman Public Library for a demonstration of the quilting process. Quilters will be at the library, 225 N Webster Ave., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 29 in the Lowry Room. Guild members come to the library annually to display quilts and demonstrate how they are made.
