PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh coach Paul Chryst suspended six players for Saturday's season opener against Youngstown State.

Freshman running back Rushel Shell, wide receivers Chris Davis and Ronald Jones, defensive linemen Tyrone Ezell and Shayne Hale and defensive back Anthony Gonzalez did not dress for what Chryst termed "disciplinary reasons."

Shell, the all-time leading rusher in Pennsylvania high school history, is expected to be a major contributor this season. He struggled with injuries during training camp, however, and Chryst said earlier in the week he wasn't sure how available Shell would be against the Penguins.
