An application to the Oklahoma City Planning Department indicates POPS, the popular restaurant and convenience store on Route 66 in Arcadia, is preparing to open a location in Bricktown.
Plans show the restaurant would be next to the Chickasaw Nation's tourism office at 1 E Sheridan Ave. and is in space previously planned by the tribe for an eatery, gift shop and a Bedre Chocolates store.
Efforts to reach representatives of the Chickasaws and POPS on Friday were unsuccessful. POPS previously opened soda stands at Will Rogers World Airport last fall.
The application to the Planning Department, which oversees the Bricktown Urban Design Commission, shows the restaurant will occupy the front half of the building's first floor and will include lunch counters similar to those at the POPS in Arcadia.
The plans also show an outdoor dining area to the east of the restaurant in a former alley way between the building and the neighboring American Banjo Museum.
