The Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department's Play in the Park kicks off Monday. The free summer program provides supervised, outdoor activities to children ages 6 and older at 24 local parks and recreation facilities.

Play in the Park runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, through July 19.

Activities include structured games and sports, arts and crafts, themed programming and occasional field trips to local attractions.

Parents are required to register their children on-site prior to participation. Free breakfast and lunch are offered at select locations through the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

“Play in the Park continues to be the core of our annual summer programming,” said Parks and Recreation Director Wendel Whisenhunt.

“As a free program, it provides countless children the opportunity to participate in a variety of structured activities in a safe, supervised environment.”

Douglass Community Center, 900 N Frederick Douglass Ave.

E.B. Jeffrey Park, 4432 NW 16.
