Poet and storyteller N. Scott Momaday’s mission is to help Indians preserve their identity

The noted Kiowa poet and storyteller N. Scott Momaday was in town recent to speak at Oklahoma City University. He will be the center piece of an upcoming feature-length documentary by his daughter, Jill Momaday, who also visited Oklahoma City.

When Jill Momaday as a young girl visited her Kiowa grandparents at their family homestead in Jemez Springs, N.M., she remembered her grandfather, an artist, getting up early to greet the morning outside with the walls of red cliffs as his view.
