He is author of two published volumes of poetry, "Document for an Anonymous Indian” and "The Surgeon General’s Collection.”

Henderson’s work also has appeared in several journals and anthologies, including World Literature Today, Nimrod, Interstate, Southwestern American Literature, Renegade 10, Broomweed Journal, Blood and Thunder and Crosstimbers.

A native Oklahoman, Henderson has taught architecture at University of Oklahoma, University of Illinois and Universidad Privada de Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia. He is a fellow in the American Institute of Architects.

"My research interests include Native American shelter and the erosion of culture, historic preservation and vernacular architecture in the rural landscape of the Southern Plains,” Henderson said. "My research experiences have, in part, influenced and informed my poetic and artistic ideals.”

In 1973, Henderson and Frank Parman co-founded Point Riders Press, which focuses primarily on publishing authors in the American West.
