Who will win today’s Sun Bowl?
Jake Trotter: You can probably list a number of reasons why the Sooners won’t win. Bowl slump. Patchwork offensive line. Bad play away from Norman. But I have a feeling OU will come to play. If that happens, Stanford has little chance of winning. Especially with a backup QB.

Berry Tramel: I don’t think there’s any question OU is the better team. But until the Sooners show signs of playing better in bowls, I won’t pick them.

Trotter: During this bowl slump, the Sooners have been playing better teams. Florida was better. West Virginia, turned out, was better. So were USC and LSU. Only Boise State wasn’t, and the Broncos needed a miracle finish to pull that one out. Like you said, OU is the better team. I’m picking the better team.

Tramel: OU is the better team, but it’s not that much the better team. Stanford routed USC and beat Oregon 51-42. This is a quality team. It’s resume’ is better than OU’s. So throw in the bowl hex, which I’ll believe in until the Sooners break it, and Stanford has the edge.

Trotter: Stanford has been more impressive during the regular season. But that was with its starting QB. Andrew Luck is trying to return from a broken finger. We’ve seen firsthand what can happen to a team that loses its starting QB. Advantage: Sooners.

Tramel: Stanford isn’t running out a green quarterback. Tavita Pritchard has made 19 college starts. And the Cardinal is excited to be here. None of these guys have been to a bowl game. Many a bowl is won by the team most excited to be there. Advantage: Cardinal.
