UPDATE: Substance found in Midwest City deemed not hazardous

A Midwest City police dispatcher said a man called to report he received an envelope with a substance in it.

5:55 p.m. The substance found in Midwest City has been determined as medical grade starch and is not hazardous, a Midwest City fire official said.

The homeowner in the 1000 block of Moraine Avenue in Midwest City told 911 that he received an envelope with a substance in it.

The fire official said police will determine if the substance was sent maliciously.

5 p.m. Police and fire crews have responded to a report of a white, powdery substance in an envelope in Midwest City.

A Midwest City police dispatcher said a man called to report he received an envelope with a substance in it. The dispatcher did not say where the call came from.
