A woman who was attacked with a handsaw in southeast Oklahoma City underwent surgery and was recovering Monday afternoon, police said.

The woman was pulled into a house and sexually assaulted before the attacker tried to cut through her neck with a handsaw, police reported.

Curtis Charles Jennings, 28, Oklahoma City, was arrested on complaints of rape and domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, jail officials said. He is being held in the Oklahoma County jail without bail.

Jennings' brother called police shortly after midnight and reported Jennings had a woman restrained in his house in the 1300 block of SE 42, according to the incident report.

The brother told officers Jennings had “hurt her really bad.” He said he fled when Jennings pointed a gun at him.

At the house, an officer saw Jennings run out the back door and found the woman lying on a tarp on the kitchen floor, according to the report.

The woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition, Master Sgt. Gary Knight said.

Police searched the area for Jennings and found him shortly before 7 a.m. at SE 44 and High Avenue, Knight said.

Jennings in 2007 was convicted of assault and battery with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, no contest rape and robbery. He was released from prison in September 2012, according to the state Corrections Department website.
