An Oklahoma City woman was arrested after her 5-year-old son was found walking alone near a business.
Tegan Cronk, 29, was arrested on complaints of possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a child and possession of marijuana.
The 5-year-old was found walking alone about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday near 3639 NW 39 St., the Oklahoma City Police Department reported. Police said a woman saw the unaccompanied child walk past her business, so she brought the boy inside and called police.
The child told police he climbed out of his window because he was going to a friend’s house. When police escorted the child home, they found the boy’s mother asleep on a bed in the living room near a plastic baggie containing a small amount of marijuana, according to the police report.
Police also reported finding another baggie of marijuana in Cronk’s purse after she gave police consent to search it.
Cronk was released Friday morning on $2,000 bond.
The state Department of Human Services was contacted and took custody of the child and Cronk’s other two children, who were in school, after officers noticed the apartment’s condition, with trash and food scattered all over the floors and trash stacked to the ceiling and overflowing from the trash containers, according to the police report.
