An attorney was jailed on complaints of possession of child pornography and obscene materials after officers found him in a hotel room with a 17-year-old girl, camera equipment and sex toys, police said.
Oklahoma City police arrested Joseph Heselton, 61, of Oklahoma City, at The Crowne Plaza Hotel, 2945 Northwest Expressway, about 4 a.m. Saturday after a man told police his friend was inside having sex with an old man, according to the police report.
When officers responded to the hotel room, Heselton opened the door and said the 17-year-old girl inside was his girlfriend and was naked. After getting dressed, the girl told police she had known Heselton for about a week.
A second 17-year-old girl was in the parking lot of the hotel and told police Heselton videotaped himself having sex with both girls that night. She told police she had wanted to get high, and that the other girl said Heselton could get them drugs.
“There could be possibly two charges here and that would be up to the district attorney,” Oklahoma City police Capt. Dexter Nelson said. “There could be the manufacturing of pornographic material and the possession of pornographic material. It’s my understanding that there were additional videotapes in the room.”
The age of consent in Oklahoma is 16. However, child pornography is defined by the U.S. Department of Justice as as any visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving a minor, someone under 18 years of age.
Heselton, a private attorney in Oklahoma City, was taken to the Oklahoma County jail and released on $20,000 bail. Calls to him for comment were not returned.
