Police identify Norman shooting victim

Norman police released the name of an 18-year-old man found dead of an apparent gunshot wound Sunday in Norman.

NORMAN — Police have identified a man found shot to death Sunday in Norman.

Lt. Chris Amason said officers were called just after midnight Sunday to 1900 Barkley Street, where they found the body of Daniel Ray Merrell, 18, of Norman. Police said Merrell died of an apparent gunshot wound.

The state medical examiner's office will determine his cause and manner of death.

Detectives are investigating the shooting. No arrests have been made.
