— Police are investigating the death of a 17-year-old girl whose body was found Monday in a field in the 500 block of 36th Avenue NW.

The girl, whose identity has not been released, was reported as a runaway Saturday, police Capt. Tom Easley said. A resident walking a pet discovered the girl's body about 7 p.m. Monday and notified police.

The death appears to be a suicide, Easley said.

“There is no indication of foul play, and no reason to believe she was abducted or hurt by anyone else,” he said.

The body has been taken to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy and official determination of the cause of death, he said.
