Officers responded at 1:38 a.m. Saturday to the party headquarters at 402 W Main St. Party officials sent out an electronic newsletter Monday morning explaining the damage.

"In addition to the broken windows, planter vases were broken and worst of all, the rocks hit and desecrated the American flag in the front room,” the newsletter stated. "The impact of the rocks gouged large holes in the wall of the front room partition.”

Nothing in the back part of the office was taken or damaged, the newsletter stated.

It also states the property’s owner responded quickly by having workers clear the broken glass and board the windows that morning. Party volunteers also arrived to move items from the damaged area to other parts of the office.

Managers of a nearby bank have offered to review surveillance tapes in case they show anything related to the incident.

Party officials planned to keep the office closed today to finish the cleanup and organization.
