LAWTON — Police say they’ve connected a jailed man to the theft of about $91,000 worth of band equipment stolen from a Lawton high school.

A local newspaper reports the male theft suspect is being held in the Comanche County Detention Center on unrelated traffic charges. The Lawton Public Schools Police Department chief says additional charges will be filed against the man, whose name has not been released.

Authorities say a trailer full of band equipment was stolen from the MacArthur Middle School parking lot Thursday morning. The instruments were recovered over the weekend near Burkburnett, Texas.
