Police: Man caught trying to use counterfeit money for food attempts to eat fake bills

If you can’t pay for food with real money, why not eat the counterfeit paper?

One North Carolina man did just that while he was being arrested Wednesday for trying to pay for food at IHOP and McDonald’s with counterfeit money.

IHOP employees called police Wednesday morning, claiming some customers tried to pass a counterfeit bill but fled when employees became suspicious.

Police soon caught up with the customers and searched the vehicle they were riding in.

Authorities said that one of the customers removed 11 fake $50 bills and five fake $20 bills hidden in his shoe and tried to eat them, but officers prevented him from swallowing.
