Police recap Oklahoma City crime surrounding Game 1 of NBA Finals
Oklahoma City Police said they were pleased with the way fans acted Tuesday during Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Miami Heat. Crime was manageable and the crowd remained respectful after the Thunder's win over the Heat, police said.
Game 1 of the NBA Finals brought a lot of visitors to Oklahoma City, but it didn't attract nearly as much crime, police said Thursday.
Police Capt. Dexter Nelson said most of the crimes that occurred Tuesday in the area around the Chesapeake Energy Arena during the Oklahoma City Thunder's victory over the Miami Heat were traffic violations and miscellaneous incidents. Two people also came forward with information about a ticket scam, he said.

According to a police report, a 49-year-old man told officers he bought two tickets from a man on a downtown sidewalk for $340. He said the tickets appeared to be authentic, but it turned out they were counterfeit.
Nelson said photo copies of tickets have been sold to victims who were told they are electronic tickets that could be scanned to gain entry to the arena.
“We've had a least two of these reported. So if you buy a ticket from someone, try to make sure you get the authentic ticket or make sure you're buying from someone you know because this scam has been prevalent in some other places during games,” Nelson said.
He said officers expect to see similar crimes during future games and that officers will be patrolling the area.
