Police released a sketch of a man who hit a woman in the face as he was attempting to steal her car in late January.

A woman, who asked to not be identified, was getting out of her car in the 2500 block of NW 15 on Jan. 26 when she was approached by a man, police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said.

The man told her to move over into the passenger seat.

The woman had pulled into a driveway about 9:45 p.m. when she was attacked. One of two men pointed a gun at her then hit her in the face, leaving a laceration.

Police are not sure if she was hit in the head with the gun or another object. The second man then climbed into the back seat.

The woman began honking the horn to draw attention to the men, and that frightened them away.

The gun-wielding man was described as a black male about 18 to 20 years old, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head. He was carrying a black handgun.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 235-7300.
