Five boys ranging in age from 2 to 11 were removed this week from an Oklahoma City home filled with trash, rotten food and the smell of human feces, police said Friday.

The boys' parents, Louisa Maria Sanchez, 29, and Teodoro Corales Sanchez Jr., 32, were arrested Thursday on complaints of child neglect.

According to a police report, firefighters responding to a trash fire in the 500 block of SE 12 called police after they discovered three of the children in the home and noting unsafe conditions.

When an officer arrived, he found the house had no power or running water. Because the toilets had stopped working, the residents were using a bucket in the backyard. The home was filled with trash, spoiled food and “an unknown fluid” in the kitchen, he reported.

The boys, ages 2, 3, 7, 8 and 11, were taken into protective custody. Their parents were being held Friday in the Oklahoma County jail.
