SHAWNEE — An armed man is in a standoff with law enforcement officials Wednesday night after a pursuit on Interstate 40.

Police pursued the man westbound on Interstate 40 and asked for assistance from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, said Lt. Brian Orr, Oklahoma Highway Patrol spokesman.

The vehicle was stopped just east of McCloud Road and the armed man got out of the vehicle, Orr said.

Interstate 40 is still open and traffic is moving, Orr said.

A Shawnee police dispatcher said the police would not comment until the situation was resolved.
