Oklahoma and Oklahoma State both appear in the preseason AP Top 25, with the Sooners at No. 4 and the Cowboys No. 19.

Sooners

* This marks the eighth time since 2001 that the Sooners open the season in the top five and the 12th consecutive year for them in the top 10.

* In the 63 AP polls all-time, OU has been ranked to open the season in 54.

* When the Sooners open the season at UTEP, it will mark the 381st week they've been ranked in the top five of the AP poll, more than any other school.

Cowboys

* The Cowboys have been in the preseason Top 25 just five times in history, yet this marks the third time in four seasons.

* Including this season's opener against Savannah State, the Cowboys will have been ranked by the AP for 43 of their last 48 games.

* Under Mike Gundy, OSU has spent 24 weeks in the top 10. Prior to Gundy, the Cowboys spent just 25 weeks in their history in the top 10.
