Polls have closed for the 2008 general election across Oklahoma.

Waits of up to an hour to vote were reported in the state after a record number of people voted early.

State Election Board Secretary Mike Clingman said there is a possibility of a record turnout for the second straight presidential election in the state.

In addition to the presidential race Oklahoma voters also cast ballots in the U.S. Senate race between incumbent Republican Jim Inhofe and Democrat Andrew Rice.

In other races Republicans are hoping to take control of the state Senate for first time in state history and each of Oklahoma's five members of the U.S. House are running for re-election.
