A Ponca City man died after the vehicle he was riding in ran off the side of the highway, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports.

Chris Richter, 18, was a passenger in a pickup about 8:15 a.m. Monday traveling east on State Highway 3 about 2.5 miles west of the McCurtain County line. The driver of the pickup ran off the right side of the road and into a private drive embankment, troopers said.

The pickup rolled an unknown number of times and Richter was ejected. He was airlifted to a Tulsa hospital and died Tuesday afternoon. Richter was not wearing a seat belt, troopers said.
