All-clear given after threat prompts evacuation from OU Medical Center buildings in Oklahoma City
People evacuated Friday from two OU Medical Center buildings due to a possible hoax have been allowed to return after police officers determined there was no threat, officials said.
Authorities have issued the all-clear after a possible hoax prompted the evacuation of people from two OU Medical Center buildings Friday.
Hospital officials evacuated the Oklahoma Transplant Center and adjacent Garrison Tower around noon Friday after authorities received some kind of threat, OU Medical Center spokesman Scott Coppenbarger said.
“We think it's a hoax,” he said, adding that he doesn't know what type of threat was issued or how it was delivered.
The roughly 50 employees and outpatients ordered to leave the buildings were allowed to return around 2 p.m., Coppenbarger said. University of Oklahoma police officers checked both buildings room-by-room and determined there was no threat.
Coppenbarger said the evacuation was ordered as a precaution, but officials never thought there was any danger.
