The Oklahoman's Jenni Carlson took questions from readers in today's Power Lunch Chat. Participate in our Power Lunch Chats Monday-Friday at 11 a.m. on NewsOK.com/Sports. Below is an unedited transcript of the chat.

NewsOK Sports 10:35 a.m. Hey everyone. We'll get started at 11 a.m., but you can start submitting your questions now.
Jenni Carlson 10:36 a.m. Happy Friday! I'll be back at 11 a.m. to start answering questions, but you can submit yours any time. We'll talk OU, OSU, Thunder ... whatever your heart desires!
Jenni Carlson 11:00 a.m. Time to get goin'! Keep those questions comin'!
Tyler 11:00 a.m. Good Morning Jenni
Jenni Carlson 11:00 a.m. Yo, Tyler! Hope all is well with you.
John 11:01 a.m. I have 2 High School related questions. (1) Do you know the status of Darrius Graham at Lawton Mac? (2) Along those lines do any offensive or defensive players stand out to you at this point of the season in 5A. Thanks.
Jenni Carlson 11:02 a.m. John, I have to admit, I don't know anything about Darrius Graham. Sorry 'bout that. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:03 a.m. I have to think that Guthrie has to have a couple guys in consideration for those POY honors. I saw the Bluejays a couple weeks ago against Guymon. Now, Guymon posed no threat and it was a blowout. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:06 a.m. Still, a couple of those guys were really looked good to me. Bryan Dutton, in specific. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:06 a.m. I haven't seen much more of 5A, though, so if I gave props to anyone else, it would purely be me sharing the opinions of others.
Tyler 11:06 a.m. we can't hear you guys on the video
Jenni Carlson 11:06 a.m. Did we get things figured out???
Chris 11:06 a.m. Just got sound to the chat. Where is Tramel located today?
Jenni Carlson 11:06 a.m. Glad things got working on the hangout. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:07 a.m. BT is in Fort Worth at the Petroleum Club. Apparently, he's going to speak to an OU alumni group there today. He's on tap with Teddy Lehman and Dusty Dvoracek.
Tyler 11:07 a.m. don't use google hangout and drive at the same time
Jenni Carlson 11:07 a.m. Good point! I don't think we've got anyone driving and hanging out. That would definitely be a bad idea!
Alum in AZ 11:08 a.m. OSU vs. KU: Who scores more points this year? OSU football team or OSU basketball team? (This is not a slam against our basketball team).
Jenni Carlson 11:09 a.m. That isn't a slam at all. After all, the football team scored 70 points last year vs. Kansas. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:10 a.m. I'll give the nod to the basketball team. I don't think the football team will score quite as many points as it did a year ago, but the Cowboys are still going to score it a bunch. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:10 a.m. Plus, I like the OSU basketball team a lot. I think those Cowboys are going to be pretty darn good.
Guest 11:10 a.m. Jeanni, do you think there will ever be a dommance from any highschool team in the 405 like we see from Union and Jenks?
Jenni Carlson 11:11 a.m. You have to think that will happen eventually. I mean, Jenks and Union can't win forever, right? ...
Jenni Carlson 11:13 a.m. Even though it seems impossible to think that the East Side could continue to dominate, there hasn't been anyone that has stepped up yet to bounce them from the top. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:13 a.m. The East Side is playing at a different level than the West Side.
Alum in AZ 11:13 a.m. OSU gashed Texas to the left side of the line. Can OU do the same?
Jenni Carlson 11:14 a.m. Clearly, that has to be an area of weakness that OU has to be looking at. Part of that was injury for the Longhorns, but obviously, it looks to me like running away from Alex Okafor is the way to go. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:14 a.m. Jackson Jeffcoat is a nice player, but Okafor, in my mind, is the monster on the Texas DL. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:15 a.m. Now, will OU use its backs enough to exploit any weakness? I don't know. The OU offense has been a little hard to predict, and I don't necessarily mean that in a good way. Sometimes, Josh Heupel doesn't seem to do things that make sense. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:16 a.m. He doesn't always stick with what's working, or stick with who's working. If Damien Williams or Trey Milliard or whomever gets going, I'd keep feeding him. Will Heupel? I don't know.
John 11:16 a.m. Thanks Jenni. No doubt Guthrie is the team to beat coming off last year. These next 3 weeks will be interesting in 5A with Guthrie, Deer Creek and McGuiness all playing each other. Guthrie/Deer Creek next week. Outside of Carl Albert those 3 have not been tested yet. They all beat Carl Albert. Thanks.
Jenni Carlson 11:17 a.m. That 5A district is brutal. Just brutal. I wouldn't be surprised to see two teams from that district end up in the state championship game.
Tyler 11:17 a.m. who would l be the back u C for Thunder
Jenni Carlson 11:17 a.m. To me, Tyler, that's the biggest concern for the Thunder. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:18 a.m. It looks to me like Cole Aldrich is the guy who they're leaning toward, but I have yet to see anything that makes me believe he's really, truly ready to play significant minutes. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:18 a.m. He still looks, to me, like a late-game, third-team option. Maybe he'll show me something different as this preseason goes on, but as of yet, he still hasn't wowed me. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:22 a.m. I'd like to see if Hasheem Thabeet might fit into that back-up role. He's very much a work in progress, but from the sound of things from Wednesday's game, he played inspired and energized. Keep that up, and he could definitely be the guy backing up Perk.
Scott 11:22 a.m. Jenni, your prediction for the OU TU game? I thought you guys usually posted those..Can't find them...
Jenni Carlson 11:22 a.m. Our picks were in Thursday's paper. Have to admit, I haven't looked for 'em online, but they were definitely in Thursday. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:22 a.m. I'm picking Texas this year. I think the score I picked was along the lines of 34-28. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:25 a.m. This is a year when I could definitely see this game going either way, but I still have questions about OU. Yes, the Sooners played well last week, but the three previous games were not good. There seems to be more evidence that they're a team with lots of question marks rather than a great team.
Tyler 11:26 a.m. no Harry Man on the power lunch chat today
Jenni Carlson 11:26 a.m. A sad day for sure, Tyler. ;)
John 11:26 a.m. Jenni - I'm just impressed that you can keep 3-4 conversations going on different topics while keeping up with the video conference and chiming in when Mike calls on you. In regards to 5A-2, Carl Albert despite being 1-5 will run the table now and make the playoffs as the 4 seed. Then they will probably play a #1 seed like Lawton Mac or Del City in the first round and have a great chance to beat them. Thanks again.
Jenni Carlson 11:26 a.m. Ha ha ... it's a bit of a mental exercise! ...
Jenni Carlson 11:29 a.m. John, I agree that Carl Albert is likely to make the playoffs even though it is 1-5 right now. The Titans are just too seasoned. They know what it takes this time of year. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:29 a.m. And hey, if I'm a No. 1 seed and I see CA on the opponent line in the first round, I'm worried. That No. 1 seed may be better and may be favored, but postseason time is CA's time. Always dangerous.
Tom 11:29 a.m. What are your thoughts on USC running back Wood's? The journalist behind the bench saw him fail his concussion testing. What are your take on concussion and the athlete playing with a concussion. Have you seen the video after he took the hit?
Jenni Carlson 11:30 a.m. I've seen a bit of USC but not a ton. I think they've got better talent than they're showing. Sort of like OU. USC seems like it's underperforming. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:31 a.m. That said, if a kid fails a concussion test, no matter who that kid is, he needs to sit. Playing with a concussion is dangerous, dangerous stuff. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:31 a.m. I mean, there is evidence that if you play with concussion and get another concussion, it can kill you. It's happened before, and no one wants it to happen ever again. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:32 a.m. If USC played the kid with a concussion, that's bad, bad stuff.
Jenni Carlson 11:33 a.m. All right, folks, I'm past time, but it's been great fun today. Hope you have a great rest of your day and a great weekend!
