The Oklahoman's Jenni Carlson took questions from readers in today's Power Lunch Chat. Participate in our Power Lunch Chats Monday-Friday at 11 a.m. on Below is an unedited transcript of the chat.

NewsOKSports 10:30 a.m. Jenni will be logging in soon, but you can start submitting your questions now.
Jenni Carlson 10:33 a.m. Hey, everyone! Can't wait to start the chat at 11 a.m. There's so much to talk about. OU-Notre Dame. OSU-TCU. Thunder. Everything is on the table!
Jenni Carlson 11:00 a.m. All right, friends! It's go time.
Shawn 11:00 a.m. Whats the chances ou plays for the nc title game if they beat nd and k state falls? % wise?
Jenni Carlson 11:02 a.m. I'd say about 25 percent. I still think at least one SEC team, likely Alabama, plays for the national championship, and the way things are going, I'd be surprised if Oregon or Oregon State doesn't finish the season undefeated. And that would likely put them in the national championship game. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:03 a.m. So, OU is gonna need some serious help. Also, it's not helping their chances to have teams like Texas and West Virginia falling on hard times. The Sooners need all those opponents to be as strong as possible to help their record look as good as possible.
Guest 11:03 a.m. Everyone is hyped about k state but rember when k state was 7-0in last year? And they failed.
Jenni Carlson 11:05 a.m. Sure, but at that point, they didn't have the number of quality wins that they have this year. The Cats have already won at OU, at Iowa State and at West Virginia. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:06 a.m. K-State already has some of its toughest conference games behind it, and the Cats are still undefeated. This is a big-time good team.
Guest 11:06 a.m. Do you think Oregon will lose at all this year? And who to?
Jenni Carlson 11:07 a.m. I like the Ducks' chances to run the table, but games remain against USC and Oregon State. And over these past few years, Oregon has had good teams but always seemed to stub their toe. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:07 a.m. Maybe this year will be different, but clearly, they have some big-time tests left.
Tyler 11:07 a.m. hi Jenni big game tonight for McGuinness
Jenni Carlson 11:07 a.m. You got that right, Tyler. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:08 a.m. Guthrie AT McGuinness. I wonder if this one being at McGuinness doesn't help the Irish's chances. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:08 a.m. Clearly, Guthrie is a great team, but this is a big-time test for the Bluejays.
Mike 11:08 a.m. According to Tramel, the Irish have the advantage on both lines, at RB, and at LB. Everyone knows games are won and lost in the tranches, so why is everyone picking OU by double digits? We all know what happens when Landry gets harassed all game.
Jenni Carlson 11:09 a.m. Well, I didn't pick OU by double digits. I picked the Sooners to win by eight. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:10 a.m. That said, Notre Dame may have those advantages, but as much pressure as the Irish might put on the Sooner line, the Sooner WRs are going to put some serious stress on the Irish secondary. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:11 a.m. Notre Dame hasn't faced an offense like this yet. The Irish have largely faced more Big Ten-style teams. There's nothing wrong with teams like that, but they don't throw it around like teams in the Big 12, too. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:11 a.m. That's gonna mean that the Notre Dame secondary is going to be tested like never before.
Guest 11:11 a.m. OU vs ND is the only thing to talk about
Jenni Carlson 11:12 a.m. Well, it's not the ONLY thing, Guest, but clearly, it's a big, big deal.
soonerfan10 11:12 a.m. Hello Jenni I Live here in Jacksonville Fl. and everything is FL.- Ga. game.I can't wait for prime time tomorrow night how's the mood there about the sooners?
Jenni Carlson 11:13 a.m. The buzz is huge, Soonerfan10. And you know what's crazy, it's only been a few weeks ago that OU fans were ready to chalk this up as a lost season. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:13 a.m. Remember all the talk after the K-State game? What's wrong with OU? Why don't they have better talent? Everybody's hair was on fire. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:13 a.m. Strange how quickly things have changed.
Andrew 11:13 a.m. How will Landay do against ND?
Jenni Carlson 11:14 a.m. That's the big question, in my mind. If he doesn't make a bunch of mistakes, OU wins this game. But if he throws it to the other team or just gives it to them, Notre Dame will win. That's where this game turns. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:15 a.m. I believe for Notre Dame to win, its defense needs to score a touchdown or maybe even two. For that to happen, Landry will need to give it to them. If he doesn't do that, OU will be hard to beat.
Connor 11:15 a.m. I wanted to get your opinion on the Lance Armstrong issue. I read an op-ed the other day that basically said the days for anti-doping in sports, that it's been tried and failed to stop cheating from happening. Do you see any merit in doing away with punishment for doping in any sport, that athletes know the risk involved, and it's ultimately their decision?
Jenni Carlson 11:20 a.m. A really interesting question -- should we just let athletes dope? I know the Armstrong case makes it seem like dopers can't get caught, but I believe the threat of punishment still keeps athletes from cheating. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:21 a.m. Is it a be all, end all? No. There are always going to be cheaters, and they're going to find a way to cheat regardless, but to me, doing away with all rules seems foolish to me.
Tyler 11:21 a.m. Jenni McGuiness told Guthrie fans that the have to sit on Guthrie Side of the field and the seating is very limited i think 500 seats on the visitor side and if they do sit on McGuinness side McGuinness will ask Guthrie Fans to move and sit on the other side
Jenni Carlson 11:22 a.m. Seems fair. Don't most high schools ask visiting fans to sit on the visitors' side?
Mike 11:23 a.m. Jenni, if OU goes in their diamond formation, what type of defense will ND play to account for the possibility of Millard slipping through? OU killed UT's 4-3 will this formation
Jenni Carlson 11:25 a.m. I'm not sure what specific defense Notre Dame would pull out in that situation, but you know what? I actually think Notre Dame is better equipped to handle a diamond, power formation. It's more like the run-first style that they've seen most this season.
Guest 11:25 a.m. Have you read the latest piece from Steve Kyler at Hoopsworld? He has heard from "sources" that Harden may be backing off from his max contract demands and may accept a incentive laden tax friendly deal. Bonuses for things like reaching conference finals would not count against tax number but are realistic with the Thunder and could bump his salary close to what he wants. It is the most promising news I have heard from the Harden front
Jenni Carlson 11:26 a.m. I did not see that, Guest. I do know this -- the team can't backload the contract. Even if they defer some of the salary to the later years, it will still count against them in the luxury tax. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:27 a.m. And the luxury tax under the new collective bargaining agreement is the biggest problem with this deal because it is so big and so punitive. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:29 a.m. An incentive-laden contract would clearly be great for the Thunder, but it would be a big-time risk for Harden. I mean, if things go wrong, Harden won't have nearly the payday that he could've had. Would he do it? Maybe. But it'd be a risk.
Guest 11:30 a.m. Why is this ND game such a big deal? People are acting like it is a bigger game than OU texas when both are in the top 10. It is not, who cares if ND used to be good.
Jenni Carlson 11:39 a.m. Sorry everyone! I lost my internet connection completely. Now we're back and going.
Jenni Carlson 11:40 a.m. OK, Guest, here's the reason this is such a big game -- it has an impact on the national championship picture for BOTH teams. That makes it big for both OU and ND. ...
Jenni Carlson 11:41 a.m. Now, I'm not going to suggest that this rivalry is a bigger deal than OU-Texas. The difference is that this rivalry isn't played all that often. And since ND ended OU's streak of 47 games and has beat the Sooners eight out of nine games, that adds to the ire of Sooner fans and to the juice in this game.
Guest 11:41 a.m. The Thunder's win total number is 60 1/2 Do you take over or under
Jenni Carlson 11:42 a.m. Going with the over. My prediction is 65 wins. Might be high, but hey, this team's pretty darn good in my book.
vince 11:42 a.m. Jenni, in 2008, when Tech, OU, and Texas were in a three way tie, and every team had a case for a spot in the BCS game, Mike Leach said something interesting. He said since they all have the same record, the one factor that should determine who gets in is what team has the highest graduation rate. Should that have an impact in situations like these? Or, all we all kidding ourselves when we actually think that academics is important in the money-making business that is the NCAA?
Jenni Carlson 11:42 a.m. That sounds like a nice idea, but will it ever come to pass? No way in h-e-double-hockey-sticks.
Guest 11:42 a.m. Jenni I'm here in Vegas so I dont hear a lot about my cowboys but who do you think will be my starting QB this week?
Jenni Carlson 11:43 a.m. I'd put my money on Wes Lunt. But that's just an educated guess. He was on the sidelines in uniform the past two weeks. They said he could've played. Well, now they NEED him to play.
Guest 11:43 a.m. OU plays ever year to play in the National Championship! When OU loses a game we realize the chances are highly dimnished that they will pay in that National Title game. If you are not playing for the National Championship then why play? Thats why OU fans were upset?
Jenni Carlson 11:44 a.m. I'm not saying they shouldn't have been upset. It's just wild to me how much this-PROGRAM-stinks talk their was. You'd have thought the whole thing was on fire. Now, everything's great.
JP 11:44 a.m. Before the Texas game i told my dad and brother, that i hope they give Landry a valium so he won't get excited and get out of the pocket. I think someone told him, if you're gonna take sack, take it in the pocket. He flew the coop way too quickly agains KSU.
Jenni Carlson 11:45 a.m. He almost played vs. K-State like he wanted to put this new-found mobility to use. He ran when he didn't need to sometimes. He's hung in there a lot better these last three games. He'll need to do the same against ND.
Alum in AZ 11:45 a.m. Is Gina going to do a music video now? :)
Jenni Carlson 11:45 a.m. It's possible on the Football Friday Hangout! You never know what's going to happen.
Alum in AZ 11:45 a.m. OK change that - perhaps a NewsOK Sports department "fight song montage" music video...
Jenni Carlson 11:45 a.m. Yes! Make it so!
Joe 11:46 a.m. The only way I see Notre Dame having a chance in this game is if they get in Landry's face and Te'o gets a few picks.
Jenni Carlson 11:46 a.m. Like I've said, I think ND needs to get defense scores, or at the least, set up very short fields for its offense. To me, that has to happen for ND to win.
Alum in AZ 11:46 a.m. If Walsh had not gone down to injury, I would be picking OSU against TCU by double digits. What now?
Jenni Carlson 11:47 a.m. Depends on who you think plays quarterback. I think Lunt plays, so I'm picking OSU. But if you think he's not ready and Clint Chelf is the guy, well, then TCU is probably the way to go.
Ed 11:47 a.m. Do you think the cold weather and nighttime game (different lighting) will affect the OU passing game?
Jenni Carlson 11:48 a.m. It shouldn't. Extreme wind and rain seem to be the things that most effect passing teams. I don't see cold or night doing it.
Jenni Carlson 11:48 a.m. All right, sports fans, sorry I couldn't get to every question even with some extra chat time. Lots and lots of great stuff today. Be sure to join us tomorrow during the OSU game at 2:30 and the OU game at 7 for our live game chats. Should be fun!
