Since July I've read every article about Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater's attack on the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board, accusing its members of blatantly violating the Open Meeting Act. His words have become more aggressive and now he's threatening to press charges against the members if they don't resign.

Might Prater serve us better by prosecuting violent criminals and finding ways to release nonviolent felons so that our prisons can handle the violent ones and allow the nonviolent ones a chance at rehabilitation? Might Prater find ways to bring down our violent crime rate by concentrating on the real villains? I value the work and efforts of this board. Members have made changes to address the issues that were challenged. Now let's give them a chance to follow through on these changes instead of threatening to charge them with a crime and suggesting they may get a prison sentence.

Board members should be treated with dignity and respect.
