Prepare for tornadoes in advance

1. Have a plan- Create a family plan of where to go and what to do if a tornado watch or warning is issued.

-Know how to communicate with family members if the primary means of communication fails

2. Stay informed- Know the difference between a tornado watch and warning.

-During severe weather season, know the weather outlook for each day.

-Check the National Weather service or a weather application daily.

-Pay attention throughout the day if things look potentially severe.

3. Have a kit- Have 72 hours worth of clean drinking water and nonperishable food for all family members

-Pack all important documents (birth certificates, Social Security Cards, insurance information, car titles, etc.)

-Leave the kit in a storm shelter or the safest room in the house
