President Bush will visit Oklahoma City on Friday to meet with small- business leaders and attend a reception for Republican presidential candidate John McCain, a White House spokesman said.

Bush will arrive sometime Friday morning, but a specific timetable for the president’s visit has not been set, spokesman Blair Jones said.

Bush will attend a roundtable discussion on health savings accounts, Jones said. The discussion will take place at the Presbyterian Health Foundation Conference Center. The event is hosted by the Small Business Administration and the Oklahoma City Women’s Business Center.

Jones said the discussion will focus on how business owners can meet the health insurance needs of their employees through health savings accounts.

The president will then go to a private residence for a “victory reception” for McCain and the Republican National Committee, Jones said.

Newsflash for Kevin: The Gaylord clan supports the Dems in this state and wouldn't be caught working with a Republican.

Translation: Bush is coming to Okaysee to make backroom deals with Gaylord mafia members and their acolytes, allowing them to further screw the working poor in exchange for GOP monetary support.

Oh Red, it's not that we're "buying into" anything. We're actually the ones that haven't bought into the liberal ideology of anything goes, whatever floats your boat, whatever flicks your bic, etc. etc. We're not trying to turn this country into anything, we're just trying to keep it from being turned into another Rome hell-bent on destruction.

I don't know why the Republicans in Oklahoma would donate to McCain's campaign. It's not like the Republican politicians on the national scene have to pay attention to Oklahomans' concerns. We vote Republican whether they campaign here or not because the majority of our voters buy into all of the conservative evangelical crap. Now, they not only want Oklahoma Republicans to guarantee them our electoral votes, but they also want their money (which will be spent elsewhere, of course).

Unbelievable. I can't decide where W's spent more time - either on vacation or raising money for the Grand Old Party (to which so many aren't invited!). The bright side is that we've only got 132 days left till he's gone! (Anybody know if he's landing at TAFB or at Will Rogers? I wanna stay out of the motorcade's way, and if he's up and down the I-40 corridor, the "free speech zones" will likely be in Norman and Guthrie.)

That Oklahoma is one of the few places Bush can still raise money is an embarassment.

I don't know how much this trip costs, but to get into the event is $1000, $5000 for a picture with GWB, and $25,000 for a personal visit. Who says our politicians aren't for sale?
