Presidential inauguration tickets available from Oklahoma's congressional delegation

Oklahoma lawmakers are asking inauguration ticket seekers from Oklahoma to call their Washington office to get on a list; although demand is down now from 2008, there may still not be enough for all who are hoping to go.

Oklahoma Democrats have been calling the state party headquarters since President Barack Obama won re-election trying to get information about tickets for the Jan. 21 inauguration.

“What I'm telling them is that you have to call your Republican congressman or senator and ask them for tickets,” Wallace Collins, the chairman of the Oklahoma Democratic Party, said last week.

Oklahoma lawmakers have been allotted tickets and are now taking requests.

The senators are getting 393 tickets each, while the five House members are getting between 193 and 198 each, aides said.

Some of the offices will hold a lottery if demand outstrips supply, while others are distributing them first-come, first-served.

Jared Young, spokesman for Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Tulsa, said a random drawing will be held sometime after Christmas.

Requests from Oklahomans are increasing, though are still below the pace for President Barack Obama's historic inauguration in 2009, aides to the lawmakers said.
