Comparisons between Johnny Manziel and Brian Bosworth have become a hot topic after Bosworth’s former Oklahoma teammate Tony Casillas said Thursday afternoon during his radio show that The Boz was a bigger jerk than Johnny Football.
But Berry Tramel and I were talking about those comparisons before Casillas made his comments.
We discussed The Boz and Johnny Football when we taped this week’s “Inbox” segment of the Press Row early Thursday morning. How are they similar. How are they different.
My take: The Boz was an alter ego, a character created by Brian Bosworth. It’s not really who Bosworth is. It’s who he was on the field but not necessarily at his core. But it appears that what you see from Johnny Football is who Manziel really is. The disregard for the rules. The self-centeredness. We’ve seen those character traits being displayed on and off the field. That, to me, says that Johnny Football isn’t some sort of alter ego. It’s who Johnny Manziel is.
Check out what Berry has to say about the Boz-Manziel debate plus much more in the “Inbox” segment.
