Proposed sales tax for new Cleveland County jail goes to vote Dec. 9

NORMAN — Cleveland County commissioners passed a resolution Friday that explains how the quarter-cent county sales tax for a new jail would be spent — provided voters approve the tax Dec. 9.

The sales tax would repay revenue bonds to finance the jail beginning April 1, 2009, and would expire once the debt is paid. The 542-bed facility will be built south of Franklin Road between U.S. 77 and 24th Avenu...
