Oklahoma City police busted suspected prostitutes and potential customers this week in operations targeting sex for sale.

Officers with the police department's vice unit posed as prostitutes and johns in the busts that took place Tuesday to Thursday at two motels in the 200 and 300 blocks of S Meridian Avenue. Police would not name the establishments but said they had full cooperation from the management.

Members of the vice unit used a prostitution website to set up meetings and advertise services, Master Sgt. Gary Knight said.

Websites used by police in such stings are known for advertising things like massages or escort service, which are thinly-veiled covers for illicit activities, Knight said.

“Whatever business they're claiming to operate, it ends up being outside the law,” he said.

The arrests involved offers to pay for sexual favors or agreements to accept money for sexual favors, with prices ranging from $40 to $220, according to police incident reports.

Arrested were Avraham Shemuelian, 42, of Calabasas, Calif.; Sumanlal Patel, 68, of Oklahoma City; Cherie Blackmon, 22, of Oklahoma City; Shareta Lavonne Mason, 32, of Oklahoma City; Bari Renae Martin, 28, of Oklahoma City; Tiquana Tanell Johnson, 34, of Oklahoma City; David Allen Hodge, 44, of Springhill, Kan.; Terry Miles Hanson, 28, of Yukon; Jashinder Singh Gill, 39, of Glendale, Ariz.; Mindy Leambre Cottier, 26, of Oklahoma City; and Justen Richard Brown, 30, of Oklahoma City.

A separate prostitution sting on Monday targeted the 4300 block of S Robinson Avenue and the 4500 block of S Byers Avenue. has disabled the comments for this article.
