PARIS (AP) — Big-spending Paris Saint-Germain may not be splashing any cash this transfer window, with coach Laurent Blanc saying he is happy with the squad he has.
PSG has spent lavishly since being taken over by Qatari backers QSI in June 2011. Before the start of this season, the French champion bought Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani for 64 million euros ($84 million) from Napoli, Brazilian center half Marquinhos signed from AS Roma for 35 million euros ($46 million), and left-back Lucas Digne for 15 million euros ($20.4 million).
"It's a good squad, compatible and strong," Blanc said Friday.
PSG has been linked in the English media with potential moves for Chelsea midfielders Juan Mata — who is out of favor with manager Jose Mourinho — and Eden Hazard, who is the English Premier League club's top scorer with eight goals.
"I'm very relaxed about the transfer window," Blanc said. "I don't have an urgent need for players."
The former France coach also thinks he has enough cover in defense to compensate for the absence of right back Christophe Jallet, who is recovering from a back operation.
"We have a first-choice right back (Gregory Van der Wiel). Do we need a backup?" Blanc said ahead of his team's match away to Ajaccio on Saturday. "You have to mull these things over. By the time it takes you to look around, Christophe might be recovered."
