SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. (AP) — About 80 people have attended a Nuclear Regulatory Commission public meeting in South Haven to discuss a consulting company's report on safety at the Palisades nuclear power plant.
The Wednesday night gathering took place at the Beach Haven Event Center.
New Orleans-based plant owner Entergy Corp. owns the plant.
MLive.com reports that plant nuclear safety official Charlie Arnone told the hearing that because of recent safety concerns, operators want to "make it the best running plant it can possibly be."
The NRC designated Palisades as one of the nation's four worst-performing nuclear plants after two safety violations last year.
The plant is near Lake Michigan in Van Buren County's Covert Township.
